Our first fund was born out of our founders’ belief that backing themselves would prove their best investment.
Almost 15 years later, we’ve raised more than £700m across three funds, each ensuring strong alignment with management teams and our investors.
In total, we have made personal contributions of £67m – about 10% of our capital – significantly above the norm for a private equity firm.
Our funds columns
Our first fund held a final close on £130m in September 2010.
Commitments came from experienced private equity investors such as SL Capital Partners, Scottish Widows, South Yorkshire Pension Authority and West Yorkshire Pension Fund, as well as international investors such as Richemont Pension Fund and Parvilla.
It also received investment from private individuals and family offices known to our partners.
The fund has now realised six of its eight investments. Overall, it will achieve its aim of returning an average of three times invested capital to investors.
Our second fund exceeded its target to raise £250m in July 2015 after just three months fundraising.
Investors included a diverse group of funds of funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and family offices in Europe, the Middle East and North America.
We fully invested the fund by early 2020.
We’re currently investing our third fund, which exceeded its target to reach its £325m official cap in October 2020, within six months of officially launching – and during the Covid pandemic.
Elysian Capital III secured commitments from new and existing investors in Europe, the US and the Middle East despite the challenges in the global financial markets.
Many of the fund’s investors also have a strong appetite to co-invest alongside us, greatly expanding the fund’s firepower.
